The best thing about this blanket? It takes just two stitches! Yes, you read that right, TWO! Single crochet and triple crochet. If you can work those two stitches, then you are good to go. It’s super easy to stitch and the entire blanket takes just a couple days to work up!

SHELL STITCHES FTW!

Shell stitches aren’t just fun to make BUT they are super easy. What is a shell? Depending on the pattern, a shell stitch is a specific grouping of stitches working into a single stitch from the previous row worked. For example, 5 double crochet stitches worked into a single crochet?

The shell stitches used in this pattern are what I would call, SUPER SHELLS!

Not only do we use triple crochet stitches but we are working seven of them into one single crochet. This creates such a gorgeous texture reminiscent of seashells!

YARN MAKES THE DESIGN!

Note: With the ensuing Covid-19 epidemic I’m urging all of my followers and friends to practice social distancing for the safety of us all. To that extent I suggest ordering online from JOANN HERE! You’ll have your yarn in a few days AND you’ll stay healthy! Win-Win!

Designing these days can be difficult, especially when you have SO many amazing options!

For this blanket, I chose to use Premier Yarns Everyday Soft, which is my absolute FAVORITE YARN! I know, I know, that’s a tall order but when I tell you this yarn is incredibly soft and versatile?

Each skein is 3.5oz and has about 180 yards in each skein. Did I mention it is 100% acrylic? YUP! That means it is perfect for all the baby stuff.

Now, you’ll notice that my sample blanket features two different colors for color C (the dark blue and the taupe). While I’d love to say this is a design feature, it’s not. I really just ran out of yarn and couldn’t make it to the store to get a few new skeins of the dark navy blue.
