WHAT IS SOMATIC CROCHET?
What is somatic crochet, exactly?
Somatic crochet is the practice of using the repetitive, rhythmic motion of crochet as a direct pathway into the body’s nervous system. Rather than focusing on the finished object, we focus on the felt sense — what’s happening in your hands, your breath, your shoulders — as you work. It’s a form of slow, embodied practice that draws on somatic principles and Ayurvedic wisdom to support regulation, presence, and healing.
Is this therapy?
No. Somatic crochet sessions are not psychotherapy, and I am not a licensed therapist. These sessions are a wellness practice — a guided, body-based experience using craft as a tool for nervous system support. If you are working with a therapist, these sessions can complement that work beautifully. When in doubt, consult your provider.
How is this different from just crocheting on my own?
When you crochet alone, the mind often wanders — to your to-do list, to what you’re watching, to what comes next. In a session, we slow all of that down. I guide you to arrive in your body first, notice what’s present, and use the craft itself as an intentional practice. Many people describe it as the first time they’ve truly felt crochet rather than just done it.
IS THIS FOR ME?
Do I need to be an experienced crocheter?
Not at all. These sessions are not about skill level — they’re about presence. Complete beginners are welcome. If you’ve never picked up a hook, we can work with that. If you’re an experienced maker, we’ll meet you where you are and use what you already know as the entry point.
What if I have trauma in my body or history?
This work is designed to be gentle. We move at your pace, and nothing is ever forced. That said, if you are currently in active crisis or working through acute trauma, please reach out before booking so we can discuss whether this is the right fit for this moment in your journey. Your safety always comes first.
What if I’m just burned out and need rest — not healing?
Then this is absolutely for you. You don’t need to arrive with a wound or a goal. Sometimes the most profound thing is simply to be guided into stillness, to have your hands doing something beautiful while your nervous system exhales. Rest is the work.
I’m not spiritual. Will this feel too “woo” for me?
The sessions are rooted in body awareness, breath, and sensation — things that are accessible to everyone regardless of belief system. The Ayurvedic and somatic frameworks inform how I hold the space, but you don’t need to share those frameworks to benefit. If anything feels unfamiliar, I’ll explain it in grounded, practical terms.
PRACTICAL LOGISTICS
Where do sessions take place?
All sessions are held virtually, via video call. You can join from anywhere in the world — your couch, your studio, your kitchen table. All you need is a device with a camera, a comfortable seat, and your crochet supplies.
What do I need to have ready for a session?
A hook and yarn you enjoy working with — nothing fancy required. Ideally something with a little texture and weight to it, something that feels good in your hands. A comfortable, quiet-ish space where you won’t be interrupted. A glass of water. That’s it. I’ll take care of the rest.
What are your session offerings and rates?
I currently offer three session formats: a 60-minute single session ($85), a 4-session bundle ($295), and a 90-minute Deep Dive intensive ($135). Each is designed for a different depth of engagement. If you’re not sure which is right for you, I recommend starting with the single session.
What’s the difference between the 60-minute and 90-minute session?
The 60-minute session is a complete, contained experience — a full arrival, a guided somatic practice, and time to integrate before you close. It’s a beautiful place to begin, especially if you’re new to this kind of work or simply want to see how it feels. The 90-minute Deep Dive intensive gives us more room. We can go slower, stay longer in the places that matter, and do more meaningful exploratory work together. If you’re someone who already knows you tend to need extra time to settle in — or if you’re coming in with a specific intention you want to hold space for — the 90-minute session is designed for you.
What does a series of sessions look like — and why does it matter?
The 4-session bundle is where the real arc begins. A single session can open a door. But the nervous system learns through repetition. When we meet across four sessions, your body starts to remember the pathway — the breath cue, the rhythm of the hook, the felt sense of regulation. You may notice things shifting between sessions, not just during them. We can also track a thread across the arc: what you were holding in session one, what’s loosened by session four. Many people describe the bundle not as four separate experiences, but as one unfolding journey.
How do I know which one is right for me?
If you’re curious but unsure, start with the 60-minute session. There’s no commitment beyond that one hour, and it will tell you everything you need to know about whether this work is for you. If you arrive knowing you want to go deeper — if you’re in a season of transition, tending something tender, or ready to make somatic practice a real part of your life — consider the bundle from the start. The 90-minute intensive sits between the two: it’s for someone who wants a single, more spacious container rather than an ongoing series. When in doubt, reach out. I’m happy to help you find the right fit before you book.
How do I book?
You can book directly through the scheduling link on this site. Choose your session type, select a time that works for you, and you’ll receive a confirmation with everything you need to prepare. Simple as that.
What if I need to cancel or reschedule?
Life happens. I ask for at least 24 hours’ notice for cancellations or rescheduling. Sessions canceled with less than 24 hours’ notice will not be refunded. If something unexpected comes up, reach out — I always try to work with people when I can.
Do you offer sliding scale pricing or payment plans?
I’m committed to making this work accessible. If cost is a barrier, please reach out before booking — I hold a small number of sliding scale spots and am happy to discuss what’s possible.
Still have a question? I’d love to hear from you.
